TitanTube™ Geotextile Tube
TitanTubes™ consists of high-strength
permeable geotextile fabric fabricated into large cylindrical
tubes for use in dewatering sludge and for coastal protection.
These tubes are made in standard sizes of 15', 30' 45', and 60'
circumferences with lengths generally ranging from 50' to as
much as 300' or more. The high-strength woven fabric utilized
permits excellent filtration and superior strength. The fabric
is UV resistant and is available in various colors for a more
aesthetically pleasing appearance. TitanTubes™ are manufactured
with proprietary seams causing it to have the lowest seam
failure rate in the industry. As an option, all TitanTubes™ can
be supplied with Flint's proprietary and reusable TitanPort™
(patent pending), offering the highest fill port connection
strength in the industry.
Sludge Dewatering
TitanTubes can be used to remove solids from
the bottom of a lagoon, a river, a lake, treatment plants of
industrial and municipal waste water. When applied to lagoon,
river or lake, a dredge is used and the sludge is pumped into
the pipeline where water soluble polymer is added. The polymer
causes the solids to grow in size and separate from the water.
The solids settle into the bag and the clean water goes through
the bag because the bag is permeable. The solids that form the
layer on the inside wall of the bag will filter out smaller
particles allowing clean water to leave the bag. The material
will continue to dewater for a period of time, depending on the
ultimate specific gravity, rheology, bulk density and
dewater-ability. Once desired consolidation has occurred, the
tube is slit open and the dewatered material may be transported
to a landfill for disposal, reused as a fertilizer, or spread
on-site.
The bags are good for
hazardous wastes and odor control, providing containment for the
hazardous waste and blocking odors as odor producing solids are
retained in the bag.
The geobag application is
a reliable, fast and cost-effective method of sludge dewatering. It
eliminates the need to purchase sludge dewatering equipment,
buildings and associated facilities, maintenance cost, and labor.

Protection
TitanTubes™ are commonly used to create or
reinforce existing coastal engineering structures. They are
hydraulically filled with on-site sand and typically deployed
underwater and along shorelines for erosion control and dune
reconstruction. They can also be utilized as a perimeter structure
for marsh creation. TitanTubes™ are simple to install, cause minimal
impact to the environment, and are relatively inexpensive when
compared to alternative methods.
Land Creation
and Land Reclamation
TitanTubes™ can be used to create additional
land for ports, islands and coastal areas. It is also used to
restore land loss from wave, flood, erosion, hurricane and other
natural disasters.
Wave Breaker
TitanTubes™ can be used to build wave
breakers to protect the ports, harbors, beaches and shorelines from
the impacts of the waves.
